Love Me Where You're At
By Francis Frangipane
(En Español)

I have discovered that, as we seek the Lord, our most difficult periods can be transformed into wonderful breakthroughs into God's love. For me, one such season occurred during the years 1979 to1981. The association of churches with which I was aligned had fallen under spiritual deception. Not only were its core doctrines increasingly seeded with New Age influences, but immorality crept in, and key leaders began leaving their wives for other women. I could no longer remain silent. As a result, in 1979 I left my congregation in Detroit, Michigan, where I had served as pastor, and traveled to the organization's regional headquarters in Iowa. I came to plead for repentance. However, after meeting with the senior leaders, I was asked to leave the group.

So here we were - we had left our church, we had no money, and we had four little children and couldn't afford even basic housing. Desperate for anything, we finally found an old farmhouse in rural Washington, Iowa. The home was over a hundred years old, but it actually looked much older. After negotiating with the landlord, we were given a year of free rent provided I did basic repairs to the house, such as cleaning and painting.

The God of the Mountains
and Valleys

By Francis Frangipane
(En Español)

The battles we face are often intense times of weakness, distress, and confusion. If the events of our lives were charted, these would be the lowest points. Yet God is no less with us during difficulties than at other times. In fact, these valleys are often as much the plan of God as our mountaintop experiences.

There is a story in the Bible that speaks plainly to this truth. Israel had recently defeated the Arameans in a mountain battle. In 1 Kings 20, we read:

Then the prophet came near to the king of Israel and said to him, "Go, strengthen yourself and observe and see what you have to do; for at the turn of the year the king of Aram will come up against you." Now the servants of the king of Aram said to him, "Their gods are gods of the mountains, therefore they were stronger than we; but rather let us fight against them in the plain, and surely we will be stronger than they." --1 Kings 20:22-23

The Divine Pursuit:
Stages of Seeking God

By Francis Frangipane
(En Español)

The divine pursuit begins with the humbling of self. Until we embrace humility, our natural mind displays itself as a god sitting in the temple of our thought-life. We are ruled by the tyranny of fleshly desires, soulish fears and human ambitions. To advance in God we must retreat from self.

Thus, when true meekness emerges in our hearts, it comes to silence the clamor of our fleshly minds. The volume on our self-righteousness mutes; the voice of our fears and inadequacies becomes a whisper. To humble our earthly perspectives and opinions, we must relegate them to a lower priority; they become mere background noise as our focus turns increasingly toward God. No pretense prevails; we come humbling ourselves. We bow on our face before the holy gaze of God. And in His light finally we perceive the darkness of our soul.

Haiti Earthquake: A Time for Mercy
(En Español)

As you are certainly aware, Haiti was struck by a devastating 7.1 earthquake. Yet the aftermath of the earthquake may actually prove more catastrophic than the earthquake itself. While relief agencies and rescue teams from a number of nations are arriving, and several thousand U.N. peacekeeping troops are on the ground, time is truly running out for those buried alive beneath the rubble.

Consider: in the capital city, Port-au-Prince, there are few structurally sound buildings remaining. Food supplies are rapidly diminishing, as are medical supplies. There is no electricity and no water to help this city of over two million people who are now homeless. Hospitals are unable to absorb and care for the many injured, and skilled medical personnel, though arriving daily, are still in short supply. Worse, corpses are stacking up in the streets; the stench of death is in the air bringing with it the threat of disease.

Two Sets of Books
By Francis Frangipane
(En Español)

It was not a dream. It was simply a thought in the middle of the night, but it came into my mind with such clarity that it roused me from my sleep. It said, "He keeps two sets of books: one is exact and the other forgiving."

I barely had time to wonder who it was that kept these mysterious two accounts when the parable of the wise, but wasteful, steward surfaced in my mind. The story, which comes from Luke, chapter 16, tells of a manager who was about to be dismissed for squandering his employer's wealth.

"What shall I do," the steward pondered, "since my master is taking the stewardship away from me?" (vs 3).

Of Christmases Past and the
Love of Family
By Eden Frangipane
(En Español)

Eden is Francis and Denise Frangipane’s youngest child.

There is something about the winter cold that has a way of slowing us down, giving us time to reflect upon life’s most important gifts. Eleven years ago today my family would have been welcoming relatives and guests into our home. Winter comes early in Iowa, and outside the snow would be spinning down, then resting in blankets across the frozen farmlands. I live in Tennessee now, but if I close my eyes, I'm almost back in Iowa, breathing in that Midwest winter air mixed with the scent of our spirited evergreens.

Everyone Who Seeks Finds
By Francis Frangipane
(En Español)
)

It is not hard to recognize one who has spent extended time at a newsstand: his conversation overflows with the drama of current affairs. And, it is not hard to discern a person who has come from a sporting event, as their face reveals the outcome of the game. Likewise, people can tell when an individual has spent extended time seeking God. An imperturbable calm guards their heart, and their countenance is radiant with light, as with the morning dew of Heaven.

Beloved, to seek and find God is everything.

TheCall is a FAST not a festival. TheCall is a SOLEMN ASSEMBLY not a conference. Whereas conferences focus primarily on training and discipleship, the 12 hours of TheCall are spent primarily before the Lord in the place of prayer and worship. We believe the hour is late and the times are urgent. Our nation is in desperate need of revival and it will be only through the corporate body of Christ uniting in the place of prayer that we will find any hope in this hour. We believe we can see our nation changed as the Lord pours out His Spirit and brings refreshing to the broken, destitute, and the weary across our land. www.thecall.com
